CHALLENGE
The licensing team at Candy Crush had the challenge of getting their new Candy Crush Board Games into more retailers, so rather than pitching a traditional B2B retail approach we suggested to create a fun consumer event that engages consumers, raises awareness and creates amazing content and delivers marketing assets for their retailers.

INSIGHT
We all know that the World is going through some incredible change and scary times. Now more than ever, Adults want to be silly, have some fun and forgot about the craziness in the news feeds. In the last two years, adults have shown they want to relive their youth and reminisce about games and things they did as a child.
As an events agency we review other events all the time, The Crystal Maze came back as a live experience and sold out for two years in advance, it was one of the most successful crowdfunding campaigns of its time. It is so popular that they built one in Manchester and now the TV show is even coming back. The first board game cafe opened in East London, Draughts and has been packed out ever since, and Cadbury’s Cream Egg launched a pop-up cream egg cafe in London and had a queue around the block the entire time.

SOLUTION
So we designed Candy Crush Board Game Cafe, a two-day pop up in a four-storey building in Soho. Bringing the virtual World of Candy Crush to life across four levels of the venue. We built giant games and a board game cafe with themed custom food and drink menus on each floor with a roaming DJ taking it back to the 80s and 90s. The entire event was based on childhood nostalgia from drawing on walls to music and playing games.

RESULT
1,500 people visited.
Over 25 pieces of consumer coverage.
Massive online and social buzz.
4 x video marketing assets for retail marketing
